 Folding Rigger System

   From the start, the shell was designed around the Echo folding rigger system. Left completely rigged, it is easily transported by one using the folded riggers as the carrying handles. When rigging, there are no nuts and bolts to tighten, loosen or loose, only two E-clips to snap into position to secure the riggers. Martin said, "I wanted the riggers to fold in and out as easy as operating a car door."

When the riggers are folded into the shell and held by the built in security strap, locking the seat and riggers from moving, the lightweight shell is easily carried by one using the riggers for handles. If two are carrying the shell, there are comfortable handles built into the rolled edge of the bow and stern.

The Hull Design

The long molded keel gives good directional stability at rowing speeds and even in surfing conditions. It makes for easy beaching or dragging up a dock without fear of damage. While the keel does not go to the stern of the shell, turning the shell in close quarters at slow speed is effortless.

The rolled gunwale makes for a strong stiff boat and together with the high bow keeps the water down and the rower dry in rough conditions.
